Authentic gigantes are hard to find, so I am very happy they are offered here at EVGE. The beans are of great quality (unlike another brand I tried previously) and remain intact after soaking, cooking and baking. Even my non-vegetarian husband loves them! Our favorite way of enjoying them is baked with tomato sauce and herbs, including some (pre)sautéed veggies and aromatics--great on their own or as a hearty side dish. I'm glad EVGE has these on offer. I hope they continue to expand their product line.

Finally found the real thing! Gigantes from Greece — NOT the same thing as large lima beans. I wanted to re-create the large bean salad commonly found on grocery store salad bars. Found lots of recipes, most calling for”gigantes or large limas”. All I could ever find in grocery stores was large lima beans. But despite trying several recipes, my beans never turned out as large? meaty and creamy as the ones from the salad bar. Decided to look online and found out that gigantes and large limas are NOT the same animal. These beans were a great price and very fresh (2026 exp date) ! Will definitely purchase again. NOTE— there are lots of recipes for these beans besides the cold salad. I’ve tried them baked with tomato sauce, Greek style, and they are awesome.
